assemble your cottage or cabin from a kit,
you can actually save time and money
– and get the best quality!
KitGuy offers a variety of well-designed structures you can easily build for your own private hideaway in the woods or by the lake.
Most cabin and cottage kits can create structures of 1000 sq. ft. or less. We're not talking big homes here. But great hunting cabins or delightful family cottages that you can build quickly with traditional
hand and power tools, then customize with porches, decks, lofts and more! Add a hammock,
and you’ll have yourself a little piece of heaven in the woods.
Choose from log or cedar construction. Most kits are traditional 2x4 and 2x6 frame construction that meets building, zoning and association codes. Many feature a post and beam roof system for vaulted or cathedral ceilings. One kit design enables you to expand the cabin into a year-round home, adding modules over time.
When you build from a kit, you can save thousands of dollars and customize the structure to precisely meet your needs. You'll also save on labor and material costs, with minimal waste.
(And, with all that money you save, you kan buy a
new grill and accessories!) Some kit manufacturers provide financing up to a certain percent. Be sure to check local zoning codes to see if a building permit is required for your property.
Kompleteness of Kits/Finishing: Most kits include pre-cut wall and flooring systems with pre-hung doors and windows. Packages come ready to nail together with panels and components clearly marked, plus instructions for easy assembly. Some packages include all the nails, joist hangers, beam hangers, frame anchors, glues and caulking materials required. Plans are fully detailed for permit and construction needs. Materials to build the foundation are typically not included. In all cases, finishing materials like
paint, stain, bricks or vinyl siding are extra.
Tools: Kits can be assembled using traditional hand and power tools. You'll need a power source nearby. Also, consider your needs for plumbing, heating and electrical wiring and incorporate these into your plans.
Skill: You'll need some expertise and proficiency in shed or home
construction. Site and foundation planning also requires some special skills,
but most kit manufacturers offer guidelines to help you in these areas.
