For doghouse kits, you can choose from a variety of affordable sizes and styles to pamper your canine companion. There's a barn-style doghouse, the typical garden-style design, or choose a kit like the
Canine Condo that boasts a front porch and scalloping around the roofline. Some doghouses come with a pre-installed vinyl door, as well as a removable roof for easy cleaning or puppy watching. Others offer insulation, paneling, decks and anti-fungal pet mats as options.

Doghouse sizes range from 24” x 24” up to 32” x 72”. Consider your dog's height and weight when selecting the appropriate size abode. The house should be just big enough for the dog to enter, turn around and lie down.
A variety of wood choices is available, including masonite, pine and cedar. Rot-resistant cedar is also a natural deterrent to fleas, ticks and termites.
Kompleteness of Kits/Tools/Finishing: Most kits include everything you'll
need: floor, walls, shingled roof and assembly instructions. No cutting or
measuring is required; holes are pre-drilled and all kits include the necessary
hardware. You will need to buy
paint, stain or a protective sealer for your doghouses
separately.
Skill: You can assemble a doghouse with minimal skill or exertion. One manufacturer says their kit requires about 1/2-hour to complete, using only a screwdriver and hammer. The more elaborate kits may call for a power screwdriver and a few hours or an afternoon.
Price Range: Doghouse kits range from $99 to $544. Special options like insulation and paneling are extra. Shipping is extra.
Shipping: Most manufacturers ship common carrier and the driver will call you prior to delivery. Because doghouses can weigh up to 315 lbs., the driver will typically ask for assistance when unloading your kit. Some companies add a delivery surcharge, ranging from 25% to 35%, depending on where you're located.
